2008

It's 1st January of 2008. I think I should have a lot fo stories to tell you.

Nonsense

I keep getting grumbles on the prolix and wordy paragraphs in this blog. Sometimes you just have to embezzle your moods and swing them into some Narnia-like epics just to write. First, I don’t write frequently. Second, there is a slight difference between whether I couldn’t write it short or I couldn’t let myself to write it short. Short as in like, making jokes of Chua Soi Leg’s name.

Kidding. I just write it long because I write it long. I do write it short sometimes.

Over-year celebrations

I went to Singapore for another hastily planned (this time free accomodation) trip three days before the new year, returned to Penang 4 hours before 2008 overwhelmingly plunging into my life, spent counting down time in QE2 with the Tees and the Lims, after complaining to an officer about illegal "solicitation" of parking fees by some hovering rats of the society in front of his eyes. I then hosted TN for a night in Penang (but in Doggie's new apartment), before spending time sleeping, half-feverish and sore throat, in the First World hotel in Genting.

Pictures? Yeah of course, here

I met up with three old friends during this short period of time.

LAI FONG LUAN

I couldn't have forgotten the fish porridge after my lone-trip to the hospital, as much as I couldn't have forgotten what she forlornly told us about her first two melancholic weeks in Singapore. Being a sometimes-obstinate lady facing the paper-thin kindness of the people there, being a joker when good friends are around, being a human who always works towards being kind, yeah, you know she is going to be fine.

JENNY TEH

Cold lame joke is almost a synonym to the name. As busy as other Singaporeans, Malaysian roots are still there. Get married asap!

CHENG TEE EAN

Zoo is not the place for bitch, as Kalamazoo is not the place for this kampong girl. I do not know if being three years abroad has taken anything away from you. I suppose not, for some qualities are just not taken-able, always only leased away.

U2 asked

Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head

Figuring out what are the lepers in our heads is the trickiest part. For it takes times, it takes strength and it takes faith.
